I bought a 460 utility but the power steering doesn't work, the T/A don't either,so you can imagine how much fun doing loader work. The diesel runs on 5 only. I'm retiring soon and want to fix it up nicely. Where does an amateur get good info to accomplish such a job? Thanks

If the Power steering isn't working I would first crack the bleed screw on the pump housing (left side of tractor behind clutch linkage), if you have pressure there may be air in the system. If you have no pressure, the pump may be bad. The power steering pump is piggybacked to the hydraulic pump and they come out as one piece. Removal is simple. Drain the fluid, remove hydraulic supply line and power steering supply line from housing cover, and remove bolts from housing cover, if you leave the four bolts in the center of the cover the pumps will stay attached to it. That's how I usually take them apart.

I have a 460U gas. When I bought it, the power steering did not work. I bought a replacement unit on ebay and installed it and it sures makes a difference using the loader. You are at the right place for advice. The search feature is pretty good for finding previous posts on problems. I would start with the power steering and then move to the miss on the engine. There is a guy in Arkansas parting out a 460U diesel on ebay right now.

Andrew, welcome to this forum. First item would be manuals (service and owners). They are available from Binders Books, on this site, or Ebay.
The second is to ask us. We collectively know everything (that is important).

Be as clear as you can.
State the conditions under which it happens, the year/model/serial # and modifications if any.
And what you have already tried.
Do not fix more than one thing at a time (they confound and multiply each other)
