A lot depend on what may have been done to an engine to know that for sure, but any thing over 100psi is pretty good for most old tractor engines if they haven't been souped up some

thanks...its only turning out about 55 lbs...on all cylinders...it burns some oil, so that's consistant...looks like valves and rings at the mininmum...i tried the oil added to the cylinder test...only brought it up 2 or 3 lbs...thanks again.

Try this, you may or may not believe me with this one but it has worked on more then one of my tractors that had the same problem. Fill each cylinder with tranny fluid and let it sit over night. If it has sticking rings and or valve the tranny fluid will help brake them free. I have a Cletrac OC-3 that had about 35-40 psi per cylinder, I filled the cylinders with tranny fluid and let it sit a day or 2 and it now has 90 psi in each cylinder.

Hey old, I know you know a lot about this. What size plug is that on those old 2 cylinder JDs? I know the spark plug hole is a heck of a lot bigger than the one on my M farmall.

RE the ? on the jd plugs...the best plugs i've ever come up w/ for the older A's and B's are the old 3 piece Champion #2 common plugs....you can disassemble them if they get fouled, and they seem to just run better...the dual electrode may have something to do w/ it....I believe the W14 is another plug that i've used, but i really don't like the newer champions.....seem to foul out worse than say, ac delco plugs.

Off the top of my head I'm not sure but I think its something like a Champ D-18. That would be what is in my 1935 JD-B but thats a guess I would have to go out and look to be sure.
