i've got a 756D, and am wondering if any of the tractors of this size and vintage had a Diff Lock, or if any of the aftermarket companies that did work on these for the add on FWA ever made some sort of a kit. The tractor is a little helpless in some situations, and I think that might help.

well, i've got 2 sets of tires for it, 18.4x34 and 23.1x34 10ply. we ran the 18.4's for a while feeding with it, but it spends most of its time tied to a rotary cutter, and the big tires resist thorns as they are 20+ years old, and 10ply. it also has a waldon dozer blade, and there are times when pushing manure that it just lacks a little bite, and didn't know if the parts were ever available. I didn't anticipate that "new" parts were being made, but if anyone ever made them, a dilligent search, and some $$ could make them appear. I'm thinking if this is a feature I want, a tractor trade may be in order.

My dad bought a new 756 and it came with factory diff-loc. It always worked well especially while plowing those tough spots in slightly damp sod conditions. We had it for 20+ years.

I'm sure you're aware that any hopes of purchasing any sort of kit for either of these options died long ago. The tractor's nearly 40 years old, and the last tractor to be produced with a similar design, the IH 3088/3288/3488/3688, stopped production over 20 years ago. Your only hope is to find the parts in a scrap yard or at an auction, and then, the owner (or your fellow bidders) will think they're made of gold... Dad's been looking for an Elwood FWA at a reasonable price for his 1066 for nigh on 25 years now...

Your biggest problem getting around in tough going with the 756 will be the 34" rear tires. A few inches of mud, and you're bottomed out. Good tires will help, and upgrading to 20.8x34 tires will add some clearance, but the tractor design really needs 18.4x38 rears for adequate ground clearance.

Now i have never seen the Diff loc on any of the 756's that i have been around but that is not sayen that they did not make it now i am not sure on this but i have seen the diff loc on the 66 seires but most of them have been disconnected as i have heard that they were not that great and had some problems . As for the FWA there was a FWA that they did put on some starting with the 06 seires but the down side to them is that it took more room to turn as they did not have a tight turning radis . Not sure what you are trying to do with the tractor but from what i have need of i have never found a proublem as far as traction with the correct tire size and added ballast or even direct axel mount duals i have always felt that they had excelant traction. now it is wet field cond. well then the FWA would be a big help as for us if it is that wet out in the fields then we stay out .
