I am restoring a 1946 International AI. The orginial paint is a bright orange, hiway orange. Any ideas for the paint code and where I can get this paint at? Also the decals on the hood for the model should say AI or A? And last, the linkage between the foodpedal to hand throttle is missing, any ideas where to locate onen at? Thank you for reading and answering my questions.

I don't believe the International A decal said "AI" it said "A". It was different than the Farmall A decal in that the word "Culti-Vision" was not on it. The "AI" decals are a later day creation. The International Super A decal is not listed on page 129 as the International Super A decals are in their own section on page 130.

There is some mistake in all this as it gives the same number for the A and the early Super A. Clearly an error.

On my copy of the Guy Fay"s Farmall Letter Series, after relooking it over on page 128 shows the AI decals but yet on page 129 it doesnt show any super AI. Could there have been 2 different tractors made, the International AI and the International A? I know mine had a hard life as when I bought it, it already had the service block on it. The service block was already busted so I replaced it. I think the tractor must have been rolled over by the block and the grill, hood and radiator had been replaced. I probbly paid too much for it, but I knew it was special and pretty much complete except the footpedal linkage was gone. Would the 140"s footpedal linkage be the same?

In my reply to El Toro below, I looked only at the pictures, not the diagrams you refer to, looking at the diagrams proves that there was a part number for an AI decal, I have no idea how many were actually used -- this is more of a question for Guy Fay, who collected the data. I am still under the impression that "US" AI was not used, Guy can correct me. As to two Internationals, A and AI, I don't think so, as in this case the US International means industrial, so the I becomes redundant. Some of the decals on p 128 were for tractors to be exported -- perhaps the AI was for one of those, I don't know. I imagine the 140 foot pedal linkage is the same, I have no proof of that.

I am hoping that Guy Fay can answer those questions. Seem like there is more questions about the International A than information about them. I'm a stigler on details, even the small stuff. I know my restorations arn't 100% showroom, but to me I strive for details to make it for it. Lol it never fails at shows to come across the "correct expert police" to try and point out stuff, ie my 41 B I used the McCormick Deering decals on the hood. Some peple tried to say it should have the McCormick Farmall decal, so I like to bring books with me to show facts to teach them so more tractors at shows will be correct as they were new. But at the same time, when looking at other tractors, I keep everything to myself as it's their restorations.

If the correct police said a 41 B was McCormick Farmall, then they should be fired. I hope Guy comments about the AI decal, as he actually shows a part number--but I somehow think that Jim Becker is correct.

You should call your local Case/IH dealer on Monday, the throttle may fit or can be modified to fit. Hal

I have the excat same tractor. Mine came in yellow. The correct decal is "AI". Got my decals from Maple Hunter, the only place I found that had them. They only come in Vinal Die Cut, no cheap one's available.

John, Maple Hunter has any decal a person could want, including the elusive "HTA". Note that they sell both A International and AI International. I do buy from them, and use their year data, along with Guy Fay's to determine whether to use McCormick Deering vs McCormick etc -- I don't know that they are absolutely correct on the year, but close. But, until Guy Fay corrects me, I'm going to assume that A is correct.

Any auto paint store that sells Dupont, PPG, Sherwin Williams or Martin Senour can supply about any color paint including orange. They all have paint chips. Hal
PS: I think the decals should have AI since it's an Industrial version of the A.

A couple of original pictures in Guy Fay's Letter Series book just say A, the pictures are of a Super A, but I doubt if the A said AI either.

If it was my tractor, I would put the AI decals on it just like John did on his. Hal
