Went to wifes old homestead to bring home two M's for my son. He wanted grandpa's M's so here they are all loaded up and home.

Whew! What a load...

quickest way to get loader off,,take the bucket off,,take another loader, and chain down to the back uprights, put little tension in chains, take the bolts out of bottom channel that hold to mounts, also bolts of front braces at tractor frame, lift the loader up a bit, and drive M out the front,,let the loader back down to the ground,,Ive heard of guys getting killed putting these on and off, the loader can tilt ahead pinning the guy against top back brace, this happens when you use a jack and blocks to hold rear of loader up,,be safe,,,billy

I'm not sure you would want it. Father-in-law fed a lot of cattle with that rig, it's been around the world (and not the easy side either) probably more than once. Loader is loose, front end has been welded (at least the welds look like they will hold) cylinders leak etc…

I do have a question though. What is the easiest way to get the loader off the tractor? I’ve never been around a F-10 loader, my experience is with Du-All and newer (if you can call 1990 newer) Westendorf. The M under the loader supposedly has a cracked head (I have a head from a 450 that I think will fit) on it and I would like to do some other TLC items on it. It would be a lot handier if the loader would be off.

Thanks for your reply though.

Hey CaptainK I always love to see an old tractor being rescued and we it is going to a grandson, I bought a 1948 M two years ago as a Shomphore in high school with my summers earnings from baling hay, welding, and my two acres of corn that Grandpa lets me farm every year, needless to say all my friends at school thought I was nuts but I did not care I was happy. Then about a month ago as a senior in high school I bought another M this time a 1940 and friends all thought i was nuts again but tell your son that them M's are a wounderfull and schould have alot of fun with them, I have also got a 300 for my 7th B-Day a WD9 that Dad give me for helping him with chores on our small dairy farm and a B Farmall that mom give me and my sister

Frankly, if they wouldn’t have been grandpa’s M’s they would still be where they were. Don't get me wrong, I love to save old iron, just can't afford to save it all! These join my dad’s tractors, a 1940 B, 1950 M, and a 1972 966 all one owner, not to mention my grandfathers McCormick Deering 22-36 (only one not running) that he bought new. Personally, I think we have enough for now!

So now we have three M’s; 1941, 1950, and I think a 1951 (the torque tube has been replaced so the serial number indicates a 1940 but the casting date on the rear case indicates a 1951). Going to be a good learning experience for him as we “tinker” with these and get them fixed up!
