Inspite of everyones emails, that jerk has decided to add even MORE auctions! I did get a response back from 1 of the bidders I notified.

So I did the unthinkable and posted my own auction with your diagrams. I'm not worried about getting into trouble with eBay, as if someone is actually dumb enough to bid and pay, I can provide them the link in an email as promised. And if someone does bid and pay, I will keep what it costs to pay for the auction and donate the rest to ytmag.

This should take care of any problems I would think.

Bob, your help is well worth it.

Jay

Jay, I saw those and said to myself "wait a minute, I can get those free from Bob M." People will try anything on eBay and I have been surprised at what people will bid.

Yours are listed as schematics while his are listed as schematics/wiring diagrams When I did
a search for Farmall Wiring Diagrams, yours doesn't come up but his does. He's got somebody on it for over twenty dollars and it ends in about
two hours. BUT that bidder has 0 purchases, a
scammer maybe who doesn't intend to pay and isn't
worried about bad feedback.

The key word there is diagrams - I changed the title a bit. If you just do a search on Farmall wiring, both of ours come up.

I am thinking that if someone bid on the other guys diagrahm that you would be able to pull up his or her contact info from ebay. It takes a few hours to a day or so but ebay will send his name and phone # and everything. You just have to be bidding or have won the auction I believe. JON

Is the diagram for the H, the same for the C, with a magneto and 6 volt generator?

Thanks Jay! I tried to bid 2 cents for your item, but even though I was high bidder the resserve had not been met! Your reserve could have been a nickle, but I was to cheap to go that far...

Yea, I put a reserve on it as I really don't want anyone to win, lol.

Jay, don't forget you will have to pay Ebay charges based on your reserve price. a better way may have been to make the strting price high, or make it a closed auction, referrring approval before bidding.

Yep, I knew that going into it. I just didn't want to take the chance that someone would actually win it - I wanted to keep the starting price low to attract attention.

Very nicely done Jay - thanks much!!

----

FWIW this morning I received the reply below from Ebay (canned I'm sure...) It sounds good on the surface but I'll be surprised if it actually results in disciplinary action against this clown.

Rather I suspect most effective action against this guy will be your "auction". My anticipation is it should pull most prospective buyers from his auctions.

Thanks once again to all for your overwhelming expressions of support. And thanks especially to you Jay!

Ebay's response:

----

Thank you for contacting eBay, my name is Hurst, and I would be glad to assist you with your concerns.

We are concerned about violations on the site and have thoroughly investigated your report. Please be assured that we have taken appropriate action in accordance with our site policies. Such action may include issuing a warning, a temporary suspension, an indefinite suspension or terminating the membership. I have submit your report.

We do have a department working with various local, federal, and international law agencies. However, the details of our actions cannot be disclosed. Please remember that this is for the protection of all eBay users.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write to eBay's Trust and Safety department. I appreciate your continued help in keeping eBay a safe and fair place to trade.

Regards,

Hurst

Hi, Bob.

First, thanks a million for what you're doing. I think I can speak for all of us when I say we appreciate your knowledge and generosity.

Aside from any legal or ethical considerations, this whole thing is interesting from a purely economic point of view. I read your reference to getting "ripped off" in one of your earlier statements. It had me scratching my head for a little while. Let's see...Here's Person 1, offering stuff for free, and Person 2, taking it and selling it. I couldn't quite see how Person 1 was ripped off (economically diminished) by Person 2's actions. To put it another way, it would probably be hard to claim damages in court if you offered someone something for free, and they took it and sold it. Hmm...

It now occurs to me, though, that what you're really losing out on are the intangibles -- the personal credit for developing the diagrams, the thanks of those of us who use them, and the internal gratification of just plain doing something nice for people. A critic or skeptic may call those things "ego strokes", but those are some of the things that make the world go 'round. (I've done some favors for the same reasons myself.) Another intangible you've gained, that Person 2 can't touch, is a little bigger stockpile of treasure in heaven.

Of course, Person 2 was simply preying on other people's ignorance for his own personal gain. He intentionally withheld the knowledge that the material was available free of charge. Now that Jay has publicized it, the ignorance vanishes and Person 2's profits go with it.

Pretty neat, how economics works (sometimes). Do you think we can turn Jay loose on OPEC and the oil companies?

Again, Bob, our sincere thanks.

Mark W.

This whole scam reminds me of the guy who was peddling OEM Tractor Parts catalogs on eBay several years ago. The suckers who bought them weren't aware that they are free for the asking by contacting the company. It may be the same guy.

When I posted the auction this morning Bob, he had added about half a dozen more auctions. Now I don't know if Ebay did it, or he did, but all the auctions are gone now except for the one that has bids. So hopefully this will take care of it. As long as no one bids as high as the reserve, the auction will be there for 10 days.

Bob, when I came to wiring my M (as there was almost none left when I bought it) I looked high and low before someone turned me on to your site. I had almost resorted to buying a wiring harness. This is a small price to pay comparitively. I thank you again.

Forgot to mention, after posting this thread this morning, I sent Kim an email telling her that I was advertising an Ebay auction in the forums. I explained what the situation was and I'm hoping she understands (which I'm certain she will) rather than deleting it.

I think thats pretty cool Jay. I'm just a rookie with tractors but I've already found the diagrams in addition to Bobs post a grand headache saver.

Thank you Bob for your time and help.

I have seen BobM diagrams and think that they are a wonderful and generous gift. How about those that have used the diagrams purchase the cheapest item/s from the "@#$*&%$" and negative feed the guy. While in the short term he would make a buck, in the long term discredit would build. While it would cost money up front it would probably be much less what might have cost some with out BobM's free diagrams!!!.....?? Just a thought.
