Your ground sure plows easy. Out here in Washington you pull 2-14 with a good M or Super M. It takes 150+HP to pull 4 18's

When my dad was young they bought a W12 and 2 14 plow brand new and used that. They traded the W12 for an H in 1945 and kept the plow. They got a used M in 1959 and it would pull a 3 14. This was near Renton in western Wa.

Back in late fortys 2 of my neighbors had bought new H and new Ford. They planed to team up and plant crop that year with planter on H and Ford pulling disc. After first half day with Ford and disc they brought F 12 out of retirement and parked Ford. Ford had enough power but was WAY short on traction.

Seems to me my dad told me they pulled 2-14" bottoms with the F-12 about plier depth. Loamy to sandy soils here. They had fluid, etc in the old girl though.

I can' resist a little sarcasm this morning. The F-12 will pull about as as you can pull with a bicycle and a rope. They are too powerless for heavy loads and too slow for light loads. You have my sympathy.

OK, we all can be a bit sarcastic at times. I would really like to watch you pull a 2-14s plow with your bicycle, and the plow has to be in the ground.

Well an F-12 is around 12HP I'd say a one bottom 12 or 14. Thats just a guess but compareing it to a JD-B sorry but thats the only gauge I have for you but a JD-B was rated to pull a 2 bottom 12 and the F-12 is a little smaller. In good ground the F-12 might handle a 2-12.

I think a John Deere B of the same vintage as an F-12 would not have had any more power or plowing capacity. Those early JD Bs were not the same as the later Bs.

This is true and my B is of the first year they where made. Note I did say it was a guess LOL. I was going on what I have been told about that year of B and that would be 18HP.

Lucas;

I was a little kid but Dad pulled 2-14"s with his F-12 and we had some pretty tough gumbo spots to work thru.

Have fun steveormary
