Can the points be changed and adjusted on my 330 without pulling the distributor out of the motor? If so, how do move the outside point to gap them correctly. Yesterday I was playing around with the tractor and I have to jump start it right now cause my charging system has failed me and for the first time since I added a key switch, the starter kept spinning even when I turned the key off and removed it. And batterty acid was dripping from my battery. What would cause this?

The last time I adjusted a set of points (30 years ago), I turned the motor over until the distributor shaft had one of its "lobes" at the "max open" position for the points. Then I inserted the appropriate size feeler gauge between the points (using the points as a spring-loaded clamp) and rotated the points-and-arm assembly until the arm just touched the lobe without releasing the gauge. Tightened the screw, started the engine, verified that the dwell angle was correct (it should be, if the point gap is right), and that was that.

I think the other replies are right about your electrical problem. If you should find that your wiring is correct, then it could be that your starter solenoid is sticking in the "on" position.

Like Eltoro said ya got it wired wrong back to the drawen board as for the tune up yes you can change the points on the tractor and the best way is to have a short screwdriver with a wide tip myself i have a stubby craftsman that i use for this just my prefferance and i install the contact first then the breaker arm get the littel nut snuged down then just lightly snug the contact screw just enough to give some tenshion to move it with the screwdriver to set the gap then snug it down .

But how will I move the shaft that the breaker arm rides on to check the gap?

You may be using the wrong terminal on your key starter switch. There should only be voltage
to your starter when the switch is turn to the start position. When you release the key start, no voltage should be fed to the starter solenoid
that has s on the small terminal.

You can check this with a volt meter. Remove the wire from the switch that goes to your starter. Check for voltage on that terminal with
switch in the off position. No voltage should be present. Turn key to start and you should show voltage until you release the key. No voltage should be present then. You should have a terminal on the switch that feeds voltage to your ignition. This should have voltage until the key is in the off position. Hal
