This isn't really a tractor question, but I was wondering if any of you guys have , or installed a Cover-All building with the fabric top and 6x6 posts? Wondering about cost and how long the cover lasts. It would be used for a equipment storage shed. Do I need a building permit for this type of building? I am in Niagara Falls Canada. Any information is appreciated. Thanks in advance,Regards Martin

Martin, I built a pole shed 40x80,14'doors a nice looking building for $33,000. I still have to put a cement floor in it, or at least part of it to make a good work area. It is white with green trim, built with 6x6 poles, lots of room and well built to code. I have looked at those fabric topped buildings and for the money the steel building will outlast any. If you plan to have it for a long time I would recommend the steel deal. I have seen too many tops off on those other types. Esthetically I like the appearance of the steel building over the military looking buildings. I understand the tops have warranties but they range from 10-15 years, I'm thinking my building will be around long after I am gone...this is just my opinion ,cost them each way and get a read...good luck with your storage shed...Mike in Exeter Ontario

Martin,

Priced out a 60x120 building only, about $70,000 US. Neighbor has an off brand one for a freestall barn. He lost the top twice in three years. He does a nice job so I think it may have been design flaw, or it was that we had straight line winds both times. He has now covered it with steel using some sort of purlin.

I hear that the hold up really well if kept tight. They have ratchet mechanisms to increase tension on them. the fabric will cut/tear if a sharp corner is rubbing against it also. I am not sure about the cost, some friends just built one 60X100? and I think it cost around $100,000 US. But that also included concrete and installing freestalls. You will have to check with the local laws about a building permit. I think that you would have to but I may be wrong. My .02 cents worth.
