Is there any way that a person who took apart an F-4 magneto could reverse the operation of the spark advance by mistake? Mine seems to be operating backwards of the way it did originally, not grounding out in the "up stop" position and grounding out in the "down run" position. I know I posted about this before, but maybe I wasn't explaining it properly. Also, is there any way that the linkage to actuate it could be backwards? I checked, and everything appears to be as it was when I took it apart. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked out the service manual, pages 8 through 24?

Indeed I have. I downloaded that whole manual some time ago. Anyway, is there any way that the point gap could be set wrong and that cause the symptoms?
