I was wondering how many F-12's where made with electric starters and when they started putting them on. I got a 1937 F-12 with an electric starter.

An electric start "kit" with the bellhousing, starter, flywheel, and lower water neck went off ebay about a month or so ago for $810.00. I finally got my F-12 to start good so I don't need it anyways.

IH did not make an electric start option, it was an after market add on. As far as numbers, I don't think anyone would know.

IH did make an electric starting attachment for the F-12 and F-14. It is shown in the parts catalog. IH never made electric start for the F-20
though. The F-20 setup was made by Heisler. The electric start on the F-12/14 was probably not made till after they started making the F-14s. But they probably offered it in kit form for dealer installation. Since it was a special attachment, it would be hard to tell how many were made, but they are pretty rare. I saw an F-14 at an auction with electric start and was able to see the IHC logo on the bellhousing. It was rough and sold for $175. I still kick myself for not buying it.
