Got home last night and a friend calls me and ask if I wanted to sell my old Mustang. I bought it several years ago to restore...and well... you know the rest of the story. It was a 70, small V8, needed work but was ok. He wants to restore it for his boy in college.
I told him maybe...but would rather trade for a truck or a tractor. He has a neat 51 International PU I have had my eyes on.
I went over and he said he had a 856D he was thinking about getting rid of.
Man...a 856...let's talk.
Well, I am the proud ower of a 1970 856 and all I can see it needs is rims and tires on the rear. I drove it home and it ran like a champ. Girl friend says I am sick and beyond help. Heck...I feel ok. Maybe it's a new kinda flu bug or something. Sure looks big setting between the 450D and the 656D...really pretty.

Sounds familiar, Bill.

I have a '65 Mustang in my garage. V8, auto trans, and factory air. Hasn't run (been "waiting for a rebuild") since 1986. It's followed me through...let's see...at least six moves since then, either on a trailer or tow dolly. Once a year or so we push it out of the garage and back in for one reason or another, usually to reach something behind it. I think it gets heavier each time we move it. Overall, it's been a real blast.

My oldest on is eleven now, so maybe...

You're not sick...just a little flushed. That's light red, which gets darker the longer you go. When I talked about buying my Super M, my wife said that if she can own a $3,500 sewing machine (that does everything but take off and fly), then I could probably have a $2,000 tractor. So I took her up on it. And now I'm sitting at a computer at 11:00 at night, communicating with guys around the country who are as crazy and I am.

I don't think you're sick. I would trade my car for a decent 856... or the 51 IH pickup, even though I already have one... Maybe I'm sick too?

She’s right and unless she is willing to provide life long therapy (money to keep buying and fixing red tractors) maybe she’d better move on! (Just kidding…)

If it’s possible, find a tractor (preferably a red :>) one) in her past and get a hold of it or one like it. Then she might get the same bug, and you’re set for life! :>)

Good luck!

Gosh Captian, I already got her a Cub and a Super A. Her Grand Father had one of each and she kinda liked them. Was hoping she might get a little red fever...she just says they are cute.
Super A is ok to cut grass...the Cub is worthless to me.
