What's Implement-What's Tractor

I am selling a set of cultivators for a Farmall A. I have the manual lift that mounts to the floor board that raises the two-point shaft that picks up the cultivators that cleans up after the tractor tire. I also have the belly lift that is two levers to the left of the steering colum - one to lift both side and one that lifts the left side only.

Are these lift assemblies part of the tractor or part of the cultivator? I might need the belly lift if I get a belly mower later on.

Those levers both go with the cultivator. The two on the left are for front one lifts both units and the other adjusts the level so both units are the same depth. The one on the platform is for rear tooling. If you need one for a belley mower one usually will come with the mounts for an A. The new owner of the cult will want the cult complete i would think.

gene: Could you address my second post. The only information I have on Farmall A implements is a plow parts manual. I can clearly see the lift kit is part of the plow in that book. My question, is the same lift kit used for the plow and cultivator for example? And what other implements might it be used for as well?

The lift parts for the plow and cultivator were different on the A. It was with the Super A that they started using common parts (like the rear rockshaft and front mounting frames). The A also had different lift parts for a given implement depending on hand lift vs. pneumatic lift. On the hand lift Cub they managed to use the same master lift unit for different implements and didn't have to change the implements when changing over to hydraulic lift.

HAS: Technically I think if you look in the parts book those are part of the implement. I know in the plow book, that is the case. If you need a hand lift for a mower and are anywhere near SW ON, I have one you can have for $25. Can even send you a photo as I have it scanned.

Thanks Hugh,

I think those belly lifts are pretty common and easy to get. I'm in OK, so pretty far away. I was hoping I'd get an answer from you, almost put your name in the subject line.

Harry: Got thinking after I posted, maybe you were looking at lifting a sickle side mount mower. I guess it was belly type finish mower.

I think another factor you will encounter, probably some of those hand lifts are exactly same for a variety of implements, even though they show up in parts book as part of a particular implement. They were probably a kit and I have seen different ones as well.

Your right on with distance and shipping, once had a guy from Long Island NY wanted this belly mower lift lever. He could have mowed his grass with a Cadilac for less expence.
