Thanks to everyone that helped with the steering issue on the 350 utility. Owner says he wants to fix steering, but no money yet. If he decides not to fix steering, what other models of IH tractors will the diesel engine bolt in? Would it go in a 454 maybe? Thanks for the help guys!!

Parts are hard to find for the Continental diesel engine found in the 350D. Some are completely impossible to get no matter what you do...

Frankly, I wouldn't even consider transplanting that engine, unless it's into another 350 Utility or Farmall 350. It's too valuable if it's in good mechanical condition, probably worth enough to rebuild the engine in a 454.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that without some serious machining and fabricating, the Continental diesel won't fit in a 454. The 454 is a European tractor imported into the USA to fill that utility tractor niche, and save IH money by not having to design a separate tractor line for North American markets.

Consider selling it. in reply to BEWILDERED, 02-01-2006 06:54:37
Probably better not to try and transplant that engine if the owner doesn"t want or can"t afford to fix the tractor. The 350 Continental diesel from the IH 350 is a high-priced commodity. Someone that wants to restore a 350 diesel will likely pay big bucks for it.

Someone will love the opportunity to repair that unit. Let him sell the tractor whole.
My 350 cents.
