I found that when i pulled off the valve cover that adjuster on exhaust valve on #1 had backed off far enough that the push rod had had slipped past the rocker. And on#4the intake valve it was fully backed off out of adjustment. Could you tell me what valve clearance's on the intake valve's are? THANKS

Kevin, it sounds like you have found the trouble.

However, in spite of what you may read on the internet, International Harvester says to set the valve lash of your Farmall A at .014 HOT for both intake and exhaust.

They should be set at .017-.018 hot. That means after the engine is completely heated up check the valve clearence.

.017 hot or .020 cold( both intake and exhaust)
