I have a farmall h with no dip stick. How far below the top of the case should the hydralic fluid be? Can it be filled by one of the two elbows coming out of the left side?

if you have the live pump mounted in front of the distributor, the lft all pump was probably converted for a storage tank. i have an m that has that kit on it. the pump unit was removed from the belly housing and a cover plate is installed where the old pump was. the bottom drain hole is then used as the supply to the pump and the old pressure line is now the return. i use hi-tran fluid in mine, it should take close to two gallons on that one, overfilling the resivoir shouldnt hurt anything.

I have a YETTER CONTINUOUS RUN HYDRAULIC PUMP that mounts infront of the distributor. Do I use oil or Universal Trans-Hydraulic fluid?

The elbows are the pressure taps from the control valve. No fluid will seep out of them unless the valve is really buggered.

Just fill it until it is full. You can't hurt it by "overfilling," and in fact, some of the early loaders actually fed extra fluid straight into the fill pipe as you raised them, because the belly pump could not hold enough fluid on its own for the giant one-way cylinders.

i checked the owners manual for my h and it says the lift all pump holds 6 quarts of oil. you need to fill it from the topfill pipe. after its full, you can make a dipstick out of a piece of wire to check it. mark the wire with a file at the full mark.

From what I have learned and done from this site is to drain it all and add 6 quarts of SAE 30 weight non-detergent oil, that way you know for sure you have the correct amount and type of oil.
