What would be an approximate and reasonable cost for a 3-16", 311 plow with wear parts that are still available through IH?

I've bought 3 FH 3 bottem plows in the past 4 years, two were in very good condition, was was worn out. Paid less then $30 each. The highest I've seen a FH plow go is about $300.00 in Eastern Kansas.

bought a 311 FH plow a few years ago for 200 bucks.Good set of plows but if it has plowchief points (2 piece points)it's expensive to replace.Superchief bottoms with throw away shares are much cheaper.IH dealer still stocks plowchief points for $62 and rock shares for $28.Throw away shares are around $10.Also,I took a gauge wheel of a set of John Deere plows. It bolted right up.

I just bought a 311 fast hitch plow a few months ago from a older gent who had just used it on a few acres and a garden for many years. It is in excellent cond with coulters and cover boards and no wear on the shares. It does not have the guage wheel on it however but the mounting holes are there. I gave 300 dollars for it which we both felt was fair and I greased it in and it is ready to go to plow day this spring. I also have a 211 fast hitch plow that I gave 75 for a few years back. Anyone know where there might be a guage wheel for my 311? Hope this helps. Migraine

If I get the one I am looking at this week, I will have two gage wheels and would be willing to part with one. Will have two furrow and two gage wheels.

I know that in ND you can get a decent useable 3 or 4 bottom plow for around $25 these days. At least that's what we paid for the last 4 bottom that just needed new tires and a hydraulic cylinder.

Watched a 6 bottom 70's model IH plow go on an auction for $300 a couple years ago. Everyone has gone no-till or minimum till with their air seeders. No use for chisel plows, vibra shanks, mold board plows, discs, etc. anymore.

Frank: This is a somewhat loaded question, now when I say that keep in mind our earlier discussion. I have no idea, however I am going to watch this closely to see what advice you receive.

The other factor one must consider is the impact no till has had on the price of used plows. It definitely is a buyers market.

The reason I ask is I have found several FH type that range from 225 to just under 500 dollars. $500 seems steep. I suppose it depends on condition, but how good can they be after 50 years? Seems they are all about in the same shape (tires, bearings, coulters, etc., all pretty used or used up), excluding gross abuse.
