If you can get the distributor number, might possibly be able to get what you need. If you want, email me the numbers and I will get you prices and part numbers

Almost all V4s had magneto Ign.
Be sure of what you are asking for. El Toro is on track with a source.

My book shows the VF4 using a distributor from 1950 thru 1974 using distr. # IGW-4159A and from 1951 thru 1980 using distr # IAD-4036A. Hal

You are right that the VE4 & VF4 had magnetos and this is probably what he needs and he does need to be sure. If it is a magneto I would suggest a WICO if he can get one, they seemed to start a bit better than a Fairbanks Morse (at least for us).

However, later Wisconsin engines like the VG4 & VH4 (which is a close cousin to the VF4) had distributors on them. I had one of each that had distributors and I think they were made by Autolite. The distributor was driven off the back side of the generator if I remember correctly, and the generator was driven the same place as the magneto on the old VE4 & VF4.

Jump over to page #5 on this forum and look for Colorado Curt's reply to your posting several days ago. He has a seized VF4 engine. Send him an email to see if your parts needed are on his engine. Hal
