third party image

I started the paint work on my old rusty 14 a couple of weeks ago. I've had this tractor for several years (a lot of you know this, because you've answered a bunch of my silly queations.) After I finished all of the mechanical work and fixed all of the oil leaks I figured it was time to paint third party image

Now I wish I would have done it a long time ago. With all of the guages and dash lights working it feels like a new tractor! My luck though, it'll throw a rod out the side of the block now that it is all finished ;) Many thanks to several of you who answered my questions and helped me along, and special thanks to John Hobby for shaming me into getting to work after he painted his 1066.
Paul

The paint is a regular implement enamel with hardener. I put IMRON on the H last year, and I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much money on paint again. Maybe I'll regret it in a couple of years - we'll see.

I am no expert on refinishing, I manage to mess something up on every progect I do. I do believe painting is 90% prep work. If you can feel it with your fingertips, you'll dang sure see it with shiny paint. Take the time to take out the dings and do the feathering. That being said-you can't really see the imperfections in the photo ;)

Thanks for letting me show off
Paul

Hobby,,,,I should have figured you would be the only guy to notice the JD green IH weight on the floor! (That's not a sin,,,,, , is it?)

Paul,

That green would be reason enough to paint. Sorry, just the way I feel. No, really, I like green, grass that is.

Sarge,

Really nice job. I wish we live close, we could be in the 4th of July parade together. I am glad you painted those weight, you and I know the prior color was wrong (JD). You need that big planter now, so go and buy it.

PS: Hey Allen, no comment ?

I think Allen is too busy changing the decals on his 966 to a 1466. Better watch out he might be trailering his down for a swap in the middle of night. He figures if he can a little more HP in front of the baler he can just open the gate and roll those bales back to the barn. Very nice tractor

That 'ol girl looks terrific. I especially like the treatment on the front weights, just sorta sets the whole thing off and says "look at me".

imho, the best looking tractors IH ever built. We had 75 model with no cab. Got rid of it 20 years ago and i still miss it. Also had a 76 model with a cab and of course got rid of it evantually too but i know who bought it and I still see it occasinally. I hope to get it back someday. Still I think they are better looking cabless. You have a really nice looking tractor! Very sharp. bill

Wow! That is one of the cleanest looking 66's I've seen in my life. Great job, I am sure you are going to have fun with that beauty. I don't think there are many tractors that look better than a freshly painted 66 series.
