Tired 300 in Mn

My TA unit is now setting on my workbench, and I have the blues. Three of the pins either broke or stuck in the retracted position and those rollers were wandering around getting worn and wearing the ramp and carrier. I'm back to shaking my piggybank. Magman, do you also have a carrier? The one positive thing is that the TA clutch looks excellent. In the meantime, I'm putting a new rear main seal in the engine, I hope there are no surprises under the oil pan. Thanks in advance for any additional advice.

Tired: I'll give you some advice in dealing with a TA. Unless you are a professional mechanic, gather up your TA and take it in for a trade on a rebuilt one. Bear in mind I did say PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC, as they are capable of dealing with this.

I've seen many amatures go mucking through the grease every year. Absolutely no need of it, get a professionally rebuilt TA, keep it adjusted well, use it right and it will run for 10,000 hours of operation.

This boat's getting crowded. I just talked to Mike at Steel Wheel Ranch. Complete rebuilt T/A for mySupM is 400.00 plus shipping, plus core plus shipping core. About 460 for me here in SD. Then seals, plus...

This is turning into an epidemic, sounds like it is spreading quickly. Suppose we can get the government to jump in and buy us all new t/a's to stop it???

Don't feel like the lonely Maytag repairman, I'm in the same boat. Got the t/a out of my 400, thought I could just replace ramps and rollers and got to looking closer, planet carrier is rough and has flat spots on it where the over running clutch ramp rides. guess I'm looking at a rebuilt t/a. It's only money, Right??? Good luck on yours. Chris
