Hi, my shifter rails slipped on me on the old M. I have taken the bolts out of the deck and belt pulley assembly, taken the seat off, etc. The belt pulley does not seem to want to bugde. What do I need to do to get the BP and deck off so I can get to my rails. Any tricks?

The Belt pulley assy and the deck are two separate parts and can be removed independently. I would leave the belt pulley assy alone as that doesnt have much to do with the shifting aspect and deck. Try what was suggested on removing shifter from top of deck and check for wear on the bottom end of the shifter. If it is worn down it needs to be built up with weld.
Good Luck.

did you pull out all 6 bolts 2 on each side and 2 very long ones down through the top, if so then we took like a small wonder nail bar and started to tap in between the beltpulley houseing and the tractor, then it popped loose.

If you need to relign the rails, I have done it through the shiter hole. Remove the pin that holds the shifter, uses a pry bar or long screwdriver to relign the rails. May have to rock the tractor a bit .
