If the diesel M-TA are starting go over 10,000 will the gas M-TA come up in price also? How much do you think this will add on to the gas M-TA 1 or 2 thousand?

It comes and goes. I don't think they are worth that kind of money and I think the next time something bad happens in this country everyone will tighten up and you won't get peanuts for one.
Having said that, I have an MTA and y'all ain't got enough money to make me part with it!

You know its only been 3 or 4 years ago that a lot of folks were using the "dumb" word when prices for nicely restored SMTA's were in the $5000 range. Perhaps the dumb ones are those of us who didn't buy back then. A lot of " dumb" folks are making good money on old tractors. How many watched the Barrett Jackson auction and saw 70"s muscle cars sell for $250,000 up. Are those folks dumb? I think not as they keep going up at 15-20% per year.

Every person sets his own value on things. What is worth to one may not be to you and so forth.

I was just at a consignment auction last weekend near Mora, MN and I was amazed at the tractor prices. Some tractors didn't sell; because they had a minimum bid and they didn't get it, but a restored Super MTA (I don't know how well restored other than it looked good on the outside) sold for over $8000. A junker Super MTA sold for about $3000 (it was in bad shape). That was the sale where they tried to sell a Minneapolis Moline UDLX (not restored and missing some parts) for $100,000, but "only" got a $80,000 bid so they didn't sell it. They had several demonstrator Farmalls including a Cub, Super A, and C that brought in the $6000 to over $9000 for the Cub. There was a guy in front of me that looked like he had money and was going to buy these two Cockshut tractors no matter what the bid was. He paid over $5000 for each. There were over 600 bid numbers at this auction. On the other side, there were some restored regular H's and M's that they couldn't get over $2000 for. Roger

Paying high dollar for an MTA is one thing, as they were different from both the Super M and the 400. But, to me the dumb ones are those who pay $6-$9000 for white paint, when that is the ONLY difference. I paid $1550 for my white C, did not know it used to be white -- I painted it red, because white ruins the looks, IMO.

Those MD-TA's and M-TA's are kinda rare but if you pay over 10,000 for one, you gotta be nuts. you could buy a mediocore 1206 for that money. They'll go for whatever the dumb people think.

"Starting to go over 10K"? Maybe, maybe not. No one knows, just because there were two bidders willing to pay 10K doesn't mean they all are going to sell for that much. Gas will remain somewhat below diesel because there were more of them. How much they will increase is nothing but speculation.

I've never thought of selling tractors, but my old SMTAD may just have to go if people really are paying a premium for them.

I've got $300 in it plus the time to get it home one afternoon so I never thought I'd get hurt, but WOW, it feels real good!

When I finally have to sell my old tractors I guess me or my beneficiaries will be hoping there's still some "dumb" buyers out there, probably won't care whether they earned their money or not. Of course when I'm trying to buy, I wish the dumb ones would stay home. A matter of perspective.
