Am still restoring Great-Grandpa's 1945 Farmall A. He took off the lights AND the switch box somewhere back in the 60's, and they was all lost. I just bought a used switch box with the ammeter in it. I won't put on lights until later, but for now I'd like to wire up the ammeter so it works. What is the easiest waye to wire the ammeter? Thanks for advice.

Thanks, guys. Between the directions and the wiring diagram, I think I'm ready to tackle this. Thanks so much for your help. I really do appreciate it.
Jeff

One 10ga. wire comes from the starter switch (battery side, not starter side). that wire hooks to the amp meter, and that should be the only wire on that side of the amp meter. (use good terminal ends)
The other side of the amp meter has a wire (12ga) that feeds the igniton switch (if coil/points), and another wire (10ga.) going to the Bat terminal on the regulator (or the big terminal on the alternator if so equipped), and another wire (12 ga.)going to the light switch.

If, when hooked up, the amp meter reads + when not running with the lights on, (hook up a light temporarily) then move all wires to opposite terminals on the amp meter. It will not hurt the gauge to be backwards. Leave enough wire to switch them if needed.
JimN ---P.S. Bob M's wiring diagrams are great.
