This is a bit off the subject, but, I recently restored a 1977 Ford F250 4WD Ranger XLT to pull my trailer to the tractor shows & pulls ....this truck is not an extra cab & I need more room for family/ dogs/ gear...I also need to be able to pull my 5th wheel trailer...I have seen "sleeper" caps on pickup trucks before, but, I can not locate one...does anyone know where I can buy one of these? I'm in Maine. Thanks!

Why not find a small pop-up camper and load it on the trailer. Remove wheels and axles if you want lower profile.Or even a P/U slide in camper mounted "sideways".

a few years ago i was needing a bit more room in my '89 K2500 reg cab. i took an aluminum topper and cut it down to size, basicly removed the front sliding window, chopped the length and reinstalled the front slider. i lined the inside with foam and then carpet. i tinted the windows really dark. the whole project took a weekend and cost about $50 bucks. i don't know if it would be legal for anybody to ride in it but it works good extra storage on longer trips. i just used a innertube for a seal between the truck cab and topper. i had an 8' box on the truck so i hooked up the goose neck and measured what i would need for clearance. i don't have any pics though, sorry.

Where have you looked? I can't believe that with the popularity of pickup trucks these days that you can't find a single solitary Leer truck cap dealer within a 50 mile radius. If they sell Leer, they can order you whatever you want. The problem is, they may not be smart enough to understand what you want over the phone, so they'll hand you lines like, "There's no such thing," or "Sorry, we don't sell those." You need to walk into the store, open a catalog, point to a picture, and say, "Here is what I want, now order it for me please."
