Hi, I just bought a nice little IH 100. The serial number is 579. The sheetmetal is pretty rough, and has none of the emblems left, but was repainted so you really can't tell what the origianl emblems even said. I noticed it has the Industrial front end and the foot throtle on it too, which tells me it is the International version rather than a Farmall 100. How many of these tractors were built? The only serial number listing I can find states:

1954 - 501
1955 - 504
1956 - 575

Is this accurate? I originally thought I had a very early 100, but as it looks, IHC really didn't build many the industrial versions the way it is, but how many? Also, outside of the paint scheam, what way's were the 100 different from the 130? If two were painted the same, how can you tell them apart? Thanks for any help!! Rob

Rob: You definately have a 100. With the 100 Farmalls and Internationals had two separate of serial numbers, each in sequence.

When you get into the 130 and 140 two sets of serial numbers are no more, they are all mixed together. If you make note of 130 and 140 serial number lists, they are under International & Farmall, one sequence for both.

If those serial numbers are accurate, you have a RARE tractor. By the start numbers for '55 and '56, and assuming production numbers dwindled a little in the final year as they often do, I'd estimate that no more than 100 I-100s were built.

Does the serial tag also say "I-100" in the model area?

AFAIK, there was little to no change between the 100 and 130. The 140 had a different hood and grille in 1959, and again around 1963 or 1964.

Thanks! The serial tag is pretty worn. The only thing I can make out on it is the serial number 579. I just got off the phone with a big enthusiast-he told me they built 135 I-100's. I guess I really lucked out with this one.

Thanks again, Rob
