Hey Fellas,

I mostly frequent the pulling site but came across a project tractor. It is a Farmall C over at my neighbors that looks to have been sitting for a while. I am going to see if he wants to part with it. I have a small farm that I need a tractor to pull haybales to the cattle, run a small sprayer and a small shredder. What is the biggest engine I can put in the C. I know it is the F12 and ABC series and 100 200. What about a 240 how big is this engine?
Heard a 504 would fit, how big is that one. dont get me wrong, this tractor will see a track and a sled but there will be more uses than that. I already have an H that is strictly a puller Thanks guys.

I think its a great idea to max out the "pulling" power of your C. HOWEVER, suggest you also find a couple extra bull gears cause I gotta feelin' you're gonna need them. BobG in VA

Wasnt able to find where it said the 504 C153 would not bolt to the C. Might not have looked hard enough.

Also found some posts that said the 203 motor bolts directly into the C is that true or does it require some work? that is a big power jump from the dinky original engine to the combine engine.

from pics it looks like the 504 c153 motor also mounted to side rails in the front of the engine. Does the 203 combine engine have a spot on the block for mounting to side rails. I think it would be neat to have a C with side rails on it if it could be figured out. also help make a sturdy tractor.

The 203 combine engine. Is it the same engine block with a longer stroke or does it have an increased bore to give it the 153 inches. Is this a 2 or 3 main engine?

seems that the place to start would be with a 203 engine swap. I saw it was rated at like 50 horses in the combine.

If you read back on old posts on the 153, the ones that were in the 504 won't fit. There is a difference in the diameter of the bellhousing. You have to find a 153 that was a power plant engine. It is supposed to have the correct spacing. The 203 has a power plant engine.

Ihave a SuperC that has the 153 motor out of 203 combine in it. The only thing you have mess with is the drive shaft and change the manifold.

I guy that I pull with bored a C block out to fit 3 1/2 pistions. It does really well in the 3500lbs class. Its alittle funny to see a C pullling with a AC WD, and Oliver Super 77, Light H's and Yet it wins. Andrew

How can that be, the 113/123 engines use wet-type sleeves, unless you mean he bored out the sleeves and not the block?

No, the block had to be bored out to except the bigger sleeves. I"m not sure what ones he used but I know that he used GM pistons in it. Andrew

100, 200, 130, 230, 140, 240 all used the C123 normally aspirated gasoline engine, all about the same horsepower.

I believe the 504 is the same block, just no sleeves, but the 504 wasn't exactly what people would call a power house. Gutless wonder is what I hear most people say.

Saw an A with a 305 Chevy V-8 in it. I suppose you could go with a 502 or something like that if you needed more power... lol

The 504 is 152 cid, but it doesn't have sleeves.
