Let me start by saying I know "nothing" about tractors. My neighbor has an old Farmall he wanted me to find some information on...namely what it's worth. Here's what he wrote down for me:

FARMALL
REC. U.S PAT OFF
JULY 17.1923
1 12 FS 62277
15.50

He's pretty old so his handwriting was tough to read. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FARMALL
REC. U.S PAT OFF
JULY 17.1923 patent date for first "Farmall" tractor
1 12 FS 62277"1" is likely and "F" as FS serial numbers are for F12 Farmall tractors and your serial number would fall in 1936
15.50without the decimal point that number sounds like the rated engine speed that was included on early serial number tags

On your own, here is the process. (a 10-20 is a model of tractor, not a price)

Go see the neighbor and ask to see the tractor.
Look for the following:
Stored inside

Sheet metal condition (rusted to shreads, painted, dented, or missing By the way, there wasn't much on a 10-20, regular, or F series)

Condition of tires (air or flat, Steel wheels w/lugs, rubber checked and bad, or good and pumped up.

Condition of engine (stuck and wont turn, free and turns easily, runs well, runs poorly)

last time used or driven under its own power.

Take digital pictures to share with us if possible.

Then look at the photo galleries to the left on this site to find the tractor and look at ads to check prices (Ebay for other estimates).

Post the picture (it is not hard) here in a new thread for our assistance. We do care a lot.

I can only assume you're referring to my crack about $15.50. If you bothered to read the rest of the post instead of getting all huffy and indignant over a little levity, you would see that I tried my best to help based on the limited information provided. Identifying a tractor based on the word "Farmall," a date, and a bunch of numbers with no idea what parts they were taken from is a nearly impossible task. As it stands, I was pretty darned close to right.

A picture would be worth a thousand words but if that's not possible we might still be able to figure it out. My first thought was a Farmall Regular, but according to the serial number guide the Regular was not introduced until 1924, so I guess maybe we need some more info. I am providing a link to site that may allow you to do some research on your own.

Thanks for the help Rusty. I knew it would be tough going on what I had, but like I said...I know NOTHING about tractors. My neighbor is a 89 year old man that asked me for help. I know how to use the internet so I told him I'd do what I could. Gee Nat..you really think he could get FIFTEEN whole dollars for it??

I was KIDDING... Don't know why the "smiley face" :) didn't get posted, because I typed one. Is that another one of the inane filters on this website, like the one where you can't use the word "S C R E W E D" in reference to a fastener?

Well, according to that, it's worth about $15.50.

Seriously, I don't see how you can possibly expect anyone to come up with any useful information about this tractor, especially about what its worth, if that's all you have to go on.

Considering the date, it's probably what IH used to simply call "Farmall," which later became known as the Farmall Regular when the F-series came out. What's it worth? Anywhere from scrap price to maybe $1500, depending on its condition. They're not really in high demand, and not particularly rare, so they're not terribly valuable.
