"1. Manusl says to torque head nuts at 65 ft-lbs.It seams I resd on here it was 85 ft-lbs. What is right?" Most folks use a higher figure than 65, to help prevent leaks. Retorque after it's run a bit. "2. I'am trying to time the mag. With #1 at tdc and rotor pointing at #1 toweron cap the lugs and drive do not line up. Did somebody change something in the mag. I have timing marks lined up on the front of engine." If the engine's timing marks are correct, the drive slot in the governor shaft will be horizontal at #1 TDC. Have you verified the rotor drive gear timing marks in the mag? Link

(Left click on the images, to enlarge.) Likely, everything is OK, and you are seeing the differance between when the mag's impluse "latches" (before the mag's drive lugs are horizontal), and the instant the impulse "trips" (when the mag's drive lugs ARE horizontal). Try installing the mag, grounging the "kill" terminal to prevent ignition sparks, and possible "kickback", and note where the engine is when the mag impulse actually "trips".
