Don't laugh too hard at Cowman's idea!! Back in 1959, one of our neighbours bought a 163 swather and 2 model 91 combines and started a harvesting run. Did a good job and did not rut up the fields too much. Tile drainage was infrequent then. And yes, gas was handled with 5 gallon cans! And yes, the drivers would nap under the truck!! Those little 91s ran their hearts out, with a visible flame often in the evenings. Combining from the swath, you could run quite a bit later into the night, and if there was no dew, well maybe up till midnight before the crop got `tough` In 1961 they hopped the motors up to 153 inch, along with cam, carb, exhaust, etc. Made a noticable difference, 10 to 12 HP was 25% over the stock 40. These lads were quite the cowboys. Saturday nights were not work late nights, if you know what I mean; and their Father was a bear to push Sunday AM work..... Hired these lads for 11 years harvesting. They would run up to 965 acres a year between them. They always worked in the same field. One combine had one size bigger tires, maybe 13.6x24 versus 12.4s. Made a difference in the mud. Each winter they would rebuild the combines as required. In later years it was I who was harvesting for the son with my 1460....Memories of what was done with, at the time, big stuff!! Your 91 sure looks good and brings back memories of a time that, in rectrospect, was easier and slower..... ..... ..QR.. and more fun!!!!
