Have old style solid release bearing on 52 Super C. Should I go with ball bearing type and new carrier or get old style from IH place? (CLutch release bearing)
From what I can gather, I have to buy a new carrier for the bearing type release or buy the old style release and carier as one unit. Thanks in advance for your inputs. 3/8" left on old SOLID bearing before it hits metal on carrier.

My Super C that I had also was a '52 with the graphite bearing. I couldn't find a replacement, so had to get the whole works from Case/IH. You are better off with the regular T.O. bearing instead of the graphite crap. Mine was very low hours, and the graphite seized up, and wallowed out the pilot bushing.

I just had the same problem on my Super C. It had the old style "bearing". I went to my local Case/IH dealer to order the same. When it came, it was a new type carrier and a replaceable bearing. I haven't had a chance to put it back together yet, but it looks like it will be fine. Seems to be all the same dimensions, plus we can just replace the bearing if we need to down the road for a reasonable price.

I went to the IH dealer and they told me that you had to buy the whole carrier and bearing and that they came together, all for around 150 bucks. I got the bearing number off of this forum and ordered it and then it was simple to knock the old bearing off of the carrier and press the new one on. All of which ran around 20 bucks. So be careful

The orignal release bearing, on my Super C, isn't a regular "bearing". It is a one piece carrier, with carbon inside. There is no bearing to replace on it. Have to get entire unit or upgrade to the "newer" style that has a replaceable bearing.
