i aquired a smtad with no gas tank, hood or grill. i am fairly certain that a sm grill will fit. what i am unsure of is the gas tank bigger or the hood to make up the difference of the torque? also it is missing the throttle assembly altogether. is it similiar to a md or a 450?
sincerly,tim

Tim ..... an M grill will fit , but you won't have the "cutivator brace" holes (thus it will be "cosmetically" incorrect) MD hoods & fuel tanks are the same as SMTAD(but the M gas is not) ..... .the TA does NOT make the tank or the hood longer cause the extra TA length is compensated for behind the fuel tank ( there's a gap between the tank & the stearing wheel post) the reason the MD , SMTAD & SMTA hoods are longer than the M gas hoods is in the front casting (the piece where the side rails bolt to)- this piece is about 1.5 inches longer , thus the hood needs to be longer to "reach" the grill
