I brought this unit home and trying to figure out what size the motor is. Sold as a Model R power unit. Serial # on motor is IMAM 17575 block is stamped 356018R2 date code 3 5 Z which would be 1954. Would it be 113 or a 123? It does have a water pump. Wanting to use the block in an old Super A.
Thanks
Roy

Thanks for all your helps guys. I had one number wrong on the block it is 356318R2. So that should make it a 123. Well after 6 hrs of soaking in trans fuild the motor now turns. Looks like new rings and bearings and one new sleeve and hopefully it will run again.
Thanks again for your help this is one great site for information and help.

Roy, I"m guessing it is a C-123 engine in that it appears to have a plate covering the machined surface for which the hydraulic pump would have been mounted. While it was unusual to see a magneto on that late of a model, it wasnt out of the question either. That engine was used both on balers and combines.

Roy: I'd have to go with the C-113 or C-123 idea, might even be a C-135 but don't think they were on market by 1954. The governor and oil filter base are definately from the engines I mentioned. Most likely it is a C-123 as Kieth mentioned. That block will bolt up to your SA.

Thanks for the replies, I have never seen a cover made for the starter hole, but I think I can make something up. It probably would have been easier to buy a bare block, but the only person bidding was the scrap man, so i couldn't resist buying it. Hate seeing this old stuff being scrapped out.
Thanks,
Roy

Roy,

Looks like it may be a C-164 combine engine from a McCormick 140 combine.

Looks like the one I have that came off a hay bailer. Mine is a 123 CI. the only problem is that you will have to make a plate to cover up the starter hole just under the oil filter. All the info I have been given on this site, is that more than likely it is a 123 as it has a water pump...HTH
