Well, farmall thought it mattered because they enginered the tractor that way and in the parts manuel you ordered them that way. Also, it was time consuming trying each hole to see if it took the long bolts. The answer to where they went was they were on both sides of the stud in the rear surrounding the main bearing. Why? I could only speculate. OH! THANKS TO THOSE WHO SENT ME THE ANSWER.

At rear of pan you should have a stud that has a nut, on either side of it is where the two longer bolts go.

Yes, length 23 of the bolts are 1 inch. 2 bolts are 1 1/4 inch. I checked this out in the parts manuel and this is correct. I need to know were the longer bolts go on the pan.

I believe that the best of my memory has four long bolts 2 at the front and 2 back, near the main bearings.
They were just 1/3 longer than the rest. Chasing the threads with a bottoming tap, will indicate the longer holes, while cleaning crud and gasket goo out of the holes, Do not cut metal while chasing threads.

By size do you mean length? The diameter should be the same on all of them. Someone may have used something with a bigger head on it though.
