it's nothing but wet here!!! yes the weather has been beautiful the past few days with good wind to dry stuff out but man, we had alot of snow this winter. the old 706 works her poor heart out just trying to load round bales right now. nobody wants them when the ground is still hard but when the frost breaks..... Vet, i'd also love to see those MTA's working!

Allen , i do not have one of them fancy high tech camras yet or i would have pictures of it and i know all of you would love to see two old S/MTA's doing what they do best working . Billy is one of my old customers and he is still farmen the old way to a point , several years ago he called me one morning and want to go to a farm sale about a 125 miles away during one heck of a snow storm just so he could buy this Olive 4340 plow well nobody ever said that i had all my ducks in a row we took my truck as it was a oneton 4X4 and had to use FWD all the way there well he wanted this set of plows so bad that he gave 750 for a 3x16 oliver then had me totaly rebuild them from top to bottom with all OEM parts. then he had to by another set so he had two set that way both M/TA could plow his old John Deere 3 bottoms were shot with bent frogs well we had them both out today i was running the older one with the wide ft. as daylite started to fade the glow was standen about three inches out the top of the muffler .

when they had .46", I did plow the garden 3 weeks ago. Hal

About that 4020 pic, allen in reply to Allan In NE, 03-29-2006 18:53:57
We have a 4020, ick, never liked since the first day I drove it, when it's hard over one way- give the wheel a good spin and it will be hard over the other way. The only reason my grandpa keeps it around is to remind him never to buy another one.

That's a little overkill ain't it? a 4020 with a three bottom plow? Puffy would just plain laugh at that. Harley

You guys sure do like them flip flop things , give me a good set of steerables anyday . When i first bought my 450 D i bought a set of 311 's for it in 3 x 14 and my buddy with his 450 D was pullen 4x14 semi mounts and would run away from me then one day i hooked to his steerables and found out that i could run a gear faster pullen and extra bottom the 311's went down the road and i got a set of 540 4x14 and never looked back at a nother mounted plow.

I've got two 540 plows. One is a 4x14" which is all the 560D wants in sod and the other is 4x16" and is all the 560D wants in corn ground in this heavy black Iowa gound. I do like the 540 plows though.

They do roll the soid nice but in corn stalk if ya did not chop the stalks or run the disc over them first ya spent a lot of time kicken plugs out but i found a way to keep that from happening , found 4 old M&W coulters that had a 18 inch disc blade for a cutter and took the stright factory coulters off and put the M&W 's on and unless a rock got between the disc and shin it would roll thru the stalks .

I've got the M&W colters but 4x16" is enough of a pull in our ground to really make the 560 work. I have no complaints about the plow as we always chop and disc the stalks before plowing.
