Seein as how I am still pretty green (no pun intended) on my red paint 1066, I am going to ask about adjustments on the clutch pedal, MCV etc. After reading a lot of posts, I would like to check out the adjustments to make sure I have everything where it should be. Realizing it has some wear, I am not sure where to start on the clutch adjustment and associated settings. My IT manual does not do a real good job of spelling out procedures and one question is do I really need another manual and is there one that does a better job. Also, what do I do first as far as making sure the clutch pedal is set right and what should I check from there.

Does my worn out left knee mean that I do not have the assisted clutch on my 1066? If not, how can you tell? Vet, can you give us the non-assist instructions? I know that the tell light is not hooked up on mine from the previous owner. Yet another project to do.

Fix the lite first like i told Mike . As that is the vary best way of setting the dumpvalve as far as the free travel it is the same 9/16th . and the rest is the same . Now if ya don't have aHdy asst. don't ever have a Heavy Duty PPA installed as it will realy put the wizzie on the old knee with a 66 seires short clutch pedal .

Ok here goes get you pencile and paper ready this gets involved as it is not the same as doing a non asst. clutch , With engine off first go to the wright side of the tractor and pull the pin that works the transmission brake next you pull the pin on the Ft. clutch rod and push it back into the cylinder till you feel resistance to set the piston and hold it there next loosen the the lock nut on the rod from the pedal to the cylinder and adjust it out so that there is some resistance then lock it down , now this is the way i do it take a 3/8th bolt it will have a 9/16th head place it between the clutch pedal and the platform this set the free travel now adjust the rod from the cylinder to the clutch bellcrank so the the pin will slide in now here is where it get tricky with age and ware on these old tractors it is sort of a feel thing ya have to hold the bellcrank aganist the throw out bearing fermly and get the pin in lock all lock nuts remove the 3/8th bolt now a extra set of hands or feet in needed here . Next got to the trans brake with tractor in park and in nutral start the engine loosen the lock nut on the clevis of the transbrake rod ,push the clutch pedal to the floor and hold it there now hold the trans brake lever to the rear till it stops then see if you can Slide the pin in if not the adjuts the clevis till it will slide in then here again it is sotra a feel thing you let up the clutch pedal then add 1/2 to 1 full turn to the clevis and install the pin and hair pin lock the lock nut down . Now go back around and loosen the T/A dump valve adjusting bolt and back it out 4-5 full turns now push the clutch pedal to the floor the T/A teltail lite should be off ifit is not the back the bolt out some more then start turning it in till it just comes on then stop let the clutch pedal up and add one more turn to the adjusting bolt and hold it in that posission and lock the lock nut down . Now you are done .

Think it would help to have a priest bless the 1066 first. On second thought, maybe me!

I am waiting to here the adjustment proceedure myself,my 1066 has the hydraulic assist thingy on the clutch pedal and my MCV telltale lite does not work,I am going to check it and see if I can get it too working and stay up with ya'lls post. My hydraulic cylinder on my clutch shaft leaks a little oil but not much but the clutch seems to work fine. Thanks

A couple O/Rings and brake cylinder hone will fix that leak and more then likely it is just and 89 bulb on the teltail that is needed. One of these days i'll have to make up a chart for the correct (MY) way of setting clutchs and trans brakes and dump valves for all Hdy T/A's and ya don't need no silly massuren stick to do it.

Was whooped last night after sending post so went home! I have not checked out the light to make sure it is working but I bet not as one would think one would have noticed it when on, especially as it is new machine to me and not used to it yet. I'll check tonight. I assume tractor must be running. Tractor Vet - I know it is a tall order but that MY way procedure would be nice.
Gotta take my pop in for Dr appointments today and probably not home until 10:00CST so don't expect much info till morning.
