Paul: As CNKS and Haas have told you get that belt tight. In fact get it tight enough that you could pick a southern banjo tune on it. Like Haas said, my Woods will also do this if dull or driving too fast. One of the first things I notice when my machine is getting dull, the drive pullies and belt get hot. I also have an area with different type grass than the rest of lawn. It's the nicest grass of my lawn, but man is that grass tough to mow. It takes me to low gear every time, not power, it will just not mow well unless I slow down. If I go that same area with my hand push mower it will kill engine unless I slow down. There is your answer Paul, you just have too much horse power. We have a comedy folk music group here in Canada, Newfoundlanders to be exact. They have a song they do at most of their concerts, on the results of installing a 454 Chevy V8 in their ride on lawn mower. They have all the same problems as the rest of us, plus a few.
