Cub won't start

I need help. I recently repainted a 1953 farmall cub. It now looks great but will not start. I replaced all wires, plugs, coil, dist cap, etc for cosmetic purposes. All parts were bought from the local IH dealer. Once installed, it started right off the first time I tried it. And several times there after. Now it will not start. The plugs are wet, so fuel is not the problem. There is also good spark. So what else could be causing my headache? What else could have gone wrong from the last time it started for me, which was this morning? The system is a 12 volt system, in fact even the starter has been converted. The coil gets hot very quickly with the ignition on, is this common? I am use to diesel tractors and have not had much experience on the gas side of things. Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

REPLACE the coil and points.

Some of the responses below indicate that you need a ballast resistor, and that may mislead you to believe that all you need to do is add a ballast resistor and everything will be fine...

WRONG. The damage has been done, and the coil will not "heal" through the addition of a ballast resistor. It's broken, ruined, destroyed, damaged beyond repair. Replace it.

Since you're going to replace it anyway, get a 12V coil and skip the ballast resistor.

My guess from what you have said is that you have a 6 volt coil on 12 volts. Your have probably done 2 things. Burned up the coil and also burned up the points. You need to install a 12 volt coil or a ballast resistor with a 6 volt coil and replace the points also

From what you have said, I would suspect the coil may have burned up. You probably need a resistor on the power to the coil. Many 12 volt coils are not designed for 12 volt operation. In these applications, the coil receives 12 volts for a hot spark while starting and then the voltage to the coil is droppped through a resistor during normal operation.
Coils are usually labeled such as "external resistor required"
