Lately our 966 has had a fuel leak on top of the head. It seems to leak between the head and the top of the injector on cylinder number 1. I was just wondering how hard it is to put in a new injector, and if I need any special tools to do it. It is really starting to make a black gooey mess all over the top of the motor. Looks like tar. Thanks for your help.

The seal on the bottm of the injector is leaking and you are getting compression up past , now it may come out easy and then again it may be stuck and may bring the injector tube with it now over the years i have been LUCKY and been able to get them out with out having the tube come with it , If the tube comes out then it will dump coolant into the cylinder so you may want to drain the system . As far as special tools go i have several injector pullers that i can use but my favorts are the two small injector pullers that look like small LADYS FOOT BARS . And if it will come out with out pulling the tube i use and injector tube cleaning brush to clean out the tube and install a new seal and clean up the injector and torque it back in evenly . If the tube comes out then ya have to install a new tube and have either and old junk injector to drive it in or the special driver to install the tube with .
