Just learned of a bog harrow near me that needs a good home for a low price. It has a single row of 8, 20inch disks and weighs approximately 500lbs. I'm not familiar with a bog harrow, but understand it is good for breaking up debris in overgrown pastures and such. Can I pull it behind my M? Any advise is appreciated.

Dan

If it's what I'm thinking the single row of disks is configured like the front row on a regular disc harrow, with four on each side concaved out. The angle between the two halves determined the aggressiveness of the cut. There were pull types, like the old pull type disc harrow, that you could pull a lever and back it up and it would lock with the two half straight with each other and it would roll along with a minumum of cutting into the ground. (Years ago all the paved roads around here had a sign every few miles saying,"No Disc Harrows Allowed")
If that's what style it is your M should pull it without trouble. Just realize that you'll never be able to pick it up clear of the ground.
There were also three point types, does your M have a 3-point?
There are also bog harrows that have wheels, with either hydraulic or mechanically actuated lifting.
The mechanical type would work for you for sure; if it has a hydraulic cylinder you would need to know that your Liftall worked.
That's how much I know from here.
Good luck,
Wm

Hi william,

Thanks for the info. The one I"m looking at is a pull type. My M does have a three point, but I"d be using the drawbar for this implement. I might attempt to weld three point attachments to the harrow so that I could move it around easier, or just use my carryall for moving it between point a and point b. Thanks again.

Dan
