Carb weep hole

The Farmall-A is together and starts/runs/charges beautifully. But after shutting down, it drips 3-5 drops of fuel from the weep hole, and then drips continually after that, about one drop every 10 minutes.

Is it as simple as the float too high/low or is this the nature of the beast? I am currently testing it with the petcock at the tank turned off too. Thank you.

One common cause of this is not tightening the inlet needle valve seat TIGHT ennough into the carb top. It needs a good gasket, and needs to be so darn tight you wonder if you're gonna break it.

Ken, I thought I could hear it running yesterday, but may have just been the rain I was hearing. I wouldn't get overly concerned about an occasional drip from the weep hole, not just yet anyhow. That weep hole is there to take care of any excess fuel or moisture condensation that is in the manifold pipe. If the float or needle valve were malfunctioning you would have gas dripping or running out of the carburetor air horn. However, it is possible that you have a small speck of rust lodged in the needle valve and seat, so it sure wouldn't hurt to drop the bowl off the carb and take a look.

Very common problem on tractors. That why they say to turn off the gas every time you shut it down.

I would pull the fuel supply line off and open the drain and blow a little air through it may be a small piece of dirt stuck between the needle and seat not letting it close all the way.Blowing a little air through it will most of the time clear it out if this doesnt work then I would check my float level. Did you put a new needle in seat in it? This also may be your problem. Hope this helps, River Bottom Farmer
