Can someone tell me what the resistance of the resistor on the exterior of the light switch should be in ohms. I have several switches that have a burnt resistor and am having trouble finding a workable replacement.
I would like to keep it as original as possible but cannot find a new part.

Actually I decided not to replace the band just now. I'm going to run this for a year or so, and just see how things go. Considering the crud inside the housing, I figure another fluid change when things are apart down the road won't be a bad thing.
I hooked up a gauge, and it shows in the ballpark of 45psi when the valve is supposed to be off. When engaged, pressure is where it should be--225ish. So now the million dollar question-what is there to do with a valve that won't shut off? I know CNH offers a valve, but if it is the MCV housing that is worn, that won't help. I think I'll pop the valve back out and see what there is again. Maybe there is still some trash in there that I didn't notice on the first go around.

There is a new replacement switch available. I think it is around $65, your original knob will fit on it.

John, Im not a Farmall man but if you mean the Field current control resistor used to regulate either Low or High charge on the older gennys that used the simple 2 wire cutout relays and NOT any light brightness dimmer resistor??? my best "guess" is they would be in the 2.5 to 3 ohms range and are wirewound power rated units. If its a resistor used for dimming lights, I dont know off hand but hopefully we will both learn when the others help out.
