I have an early model 706 with a 282 diesel that I am rebuilding. When I pulled the engine down I discovered that it had no sleeves in it. It also has no grove cut in the top of the cylinder wall for the sleeve to seat in. There is no sign of filler or welding, and the block was not bored out. Appears to be factory. Just has over sized pistins in it. Has anyone ever seen this before?

Adjusting the screw was ineffective. It seems as if it is not hitting anything, which probably means the spring is off or broken. I can run it all the way up, or take it out completely and it behaves the same. There is another adjustment bolt on top, but it does not seem to make contact with anything either. I guess the governor will need to come apart.

Most likely a combine engine, they used no sleeves.

Turns out that my 282 might be a 301 instead. Same block, no sleeves, bigger pistons. If I"m wrong let me know.
