I was out plowing the field the other day and after I turned around to make another pass, I dropped the plow and my 460 just shut right off. She wouldn't start back up either. I pulled the carborator the next day and there was some gas in the air hose. I cleaned it up put it back on and tried to start it again. This time she would start, but as soon as I took my finger off of the ignition switch, she died. I check the coil, and it looked like the Ohms were too low, so I swapped it out for a new one. She still only runs while I have the ignition switch engaged. Any ideas anybody?

Definetly a bad ballast resistor. It's the rectangular white thing near your coil. It's purpose is to knock the voltage going to the coil down to 6 volts while the engine is running, to prevent burning the points. To aid in starting, the ballast resistor is bypassed to provide a full 12 volts to the coil. On the back of your starter solenoid, you'll notice a small terminal labled "R". Whenever the solenoid is engaged (by pushing the starter button), 12 volts is sent through this terminal and through the wire attached to it, which is attached to the coil side of the ballast resistor, bypassing it. To test this and to get your tractor home, just run a hot wire to the + side of the coil. It's perfectly safe to run for a short time with the resistor bypassed, but you'll probably need new points after running a few hours like that.

I think you have a bad ballast resistor. Run a
separate hot wire to the coil and see if it will run. Hal
PS: If it runs you will need to disconnect the wire to the coil to get the engine to stop. Is the coil 6 volts? You could use a 12 volt coil and eliminate the ballast resistor.

Bad switch, bad wiring or bad ignition resistor. It's running on the full 12 volt "start" circuit.
