1466 hydraulic bump

Hello,
I have a 1466 that when it has a heavy load on the 3 point hitch raised up it bumps every few seconds. It acts like it is creeping down and correcting itself. It is worse with a heavy implement such as a chisel plow, but still noticable with a 1500 pound round bale.
Any thoughts as to the problem and how bad is the repair. Thanks for the help. YC

Pete Don't forget all the other places it could leak. Like the cushion relief valve, the orings between the control valve and the cylinder. I would have done a leak check before I pulled the cab and deck. It could be just an adjustment.

Everthing on the 1066 needs to be adjusted in reply to Aces, 05-11-2006 20:30:05
After 30+ years, most every adjustable thing on this tractor needs to be properly adjusted. I have the factory service manual, and am slowly working my way through, but as a weekend warrior with two small kids, I'm happy to keep it operational.

My 1066 does this also. Does this mean if you have a cab, that it needs to come off to do the repair? Will it hurt anything to run it like this?

There is great information on this site, It just bothers me that I don't want to hear a good bit of it.

Thanks,

Pete

Yep , the cab has to come off and the whole rockshasft housing has to come off . Now some guys just put a new piston seal in but i like to run the hone thru it just to give the new seal something to seat to . Cabs are nice Sometimes but a real pain when ya got to tear them apart . on the 86 seires ya can just lift the rear of the cab a bit and sneak it out but with the factroy cab or aftermarket it is a pain ya may get away with tryen to sneak it out but ya have to have about 6 inches of clearance and be able to get a cherry picker in for the lifting .

Ya need to pull the top deck off and rebuild the lift cylinder as it is leaking and need a quick hone job and new seal.

Dumb question, I know.

But, your draft lever isn't by chance setting down in the "run" position, is it?
