Power loss in Farmall H

I experienced a sudden loss of power and surging in my 1941 Farmall H. I replaced the plugs and wires, which resulted in a nice fast start and smoother running engine, but the engine will die suddenly (no sputtering) after 2-3 minutes and will not generate good power while running during that short time frame. I next rebuilt the carburetor and replaced the fuel bowl and line and gas but that did not help. The tractor was running perfectly fine until this sudden change. I also discovered a short in the starter wire, but that seems unrelated and did not clear the problem when fixed. Any suggestions as to where to start troubleshooting?
Thanks for any help.

Don't overlook the ignition system. A bad condenser could cause problems such as you are describing. Also check the ignition switch & push/ pull it several times to see what happens.

That sudden cut out sure sounds like ignition. I have had a few sets of point suddenly fuse together. A quick cleaning and we go for another 6 months.
I agree, do the point and condensor. Its a cheap fix

Check the screen in your glass fuel bowl. Sounds like you might have some trash on it.

At any rate, your problem sounds fuel related.

If you have a fuel filter on the tractor, there's a good chance its plugged just enough that its preventing fuel flow

One problem that i've encounterd is checking the fuel tank. Sometimes there seems to be a little bit of crap that settles to the bottom.

In addition to the other tips you've been given, loosen the gas cap, sometimes the vent becomes plugged. Also a bad coil or condenser will cause the simialr problems.
