Hello, could anyone tell me what this is with the broken handle sticking out of it.(see pic below).
The operator or the sevice manuals I picked up doesnt show it.Its a 1953 SM. This is my first Farmall I have tried to work on. Still learning about it.
Thank you for any help.

The data plate on the brake assembly will probably tell you a lot about that "after market" M & W clutch on your SM. Its kind of a nice rare find, especially if it still works. Dealers installed them on new tractors in our part of the world. They work like the early Allis Chalmers double clutch system that AC designed for the little round bailers that they made. Saw one on a SH that worked. SH sold for lots of $$, simply because it had the M & W clutch. Some one can probably tell you a lot about them, if you ask for info on an M & W clutch. That sir is a M&W override clutch. I could be disengaged to allow a farmall to have "live" pto and hydraulics. You still had to use the foot "stock" clutch to shift gears though. It was a very nice add on when trying to bale really thick hay with a tractor that has to tall of a 1st gear. Maybe some one else can tell you more about it.
