Dillemna: I"m an hour drive away from the farm, and there aren"t a lot of tools out there. I need to get a rim off the H to ready it for a replacement rim and wheel. My regular "city guy" toolset doesn"t have much heavy stuff in it, and I"m afraid that other than the old breaker bar that"s out at the farm, there"s not a lot there, and probably not the right size socket for the H"s wheel bolts (rim-to-hub, 6 of "em.) I"ll gladly take a small amount of embarrassment now by saying I don"t know what size they are, and hopefully avoid an extra hour of driving to come back out and get a different sized socket...does anyone know the size of these bolts off the top of their head? I"ll stop at sears and make a donation to craftsman if someone could recommend the size - and it"ll save me a good hour"s drive and a lot of gas.

If anyone knows, I"d appreciate it. Thanks much,
-Doug

1" socket and an open end 15/16" wrench. Sears , here I come (after work). WD-40 is a check. I hear you on the complete set. If the price is right I may skip to the chase and do that.

Thanks much for the guidance,
-Doug

Mine are original, and they are 1". That doesn't mean that yours haven't been changed out though!

I forgot to say that if yours are like mine, there will be another nut on the wheel bolt behind one of the clamps on either side, I believe that nut is a 15/16, but you should take a 7/8 to make sure that you have it covered.

The nuts will all take a one inch wrench. The square heads on the bolts will take a 15/16, and a 15/16 inch square socket if you can find one. Bring plenty of penetrating oil, and if those bolts and nuts have not been removed in about 50 years, you might want to bring an oxy/acetylene torch. This might be the time to invest in a complete 3/4 inch drive socket set.

Thanks Bill and Rusty. I posted my response in the wrong place, it showed up above. Your advice is appreciated.
