If any one needs a over running clutch for there H or M or A, B, C, Cub what ever get a hold of me. I have some. I believe they are used with a bush hog or other mowers the best. Not rying to make an ad here I picked some up some and dont know much about them so if any one can tell me more I would appreatiate it. If you've ever run an old tractor with bad brakes and bushog in an orchard you'll know a good over running coupling may literally keep you out of the trees or perhaps save you a radiator or two. An old Ford and I were promptly screwed right into a tree, busted radiator, numerous cuts and scratches and near lost an eye, before I found out my brother had welded his worn out over running coupling.

Hey Jon,

Are you looking for a description of what an overrunning clutch does? If so, it"s pretty simple. They"re mainly used on tractors that do NOT have live PTO. The PTO is driven off the transmission, so when you push the clutch, whatever is on the PTO will drive the transmission, making the tractor roll until it runs out of momentum. An overrunning clutch allows the thing on the PTO to freewheel without pushing the tractor around.

The mechanism is not unlike the inside of your socket/ratchet wrench handle. It locks in one direction, but freewheels in the other.

A few pages back Hal Davis told a story that sounds like he needed one for the belt pulley on his H. Anybody ever hear of such a thing? Wm
