I bought a ‘61 340 Utility a while back and am trying to clean it up some, to start with. If any one has an educated guess as to where this leak is coming from I will appreciate your thoughts. The black arrow is pointing to a hole in the casting that the oil is leaking from. It didn't leak from there to my knowledge until I rebuilt the cylinder on the 3 pt. That shouldn't have caused it unless pushing the oil into the cylinder caused a gasket to start leak above the casting hole? In any case I still want to find the leak before I change the trans hyd oil and the filter. The picture is taken looking from the front towards the rear.

Thank you,
Rockbasss

I should mention that I do not have a TA or a reverser on this tractor.

THERE IS AN AREA ABOVE THE HOLE YOU SEE,ONE ON EACH SIDE THIS IS A DRY AREA INSIDE .iF YOU TAKE THE COVER OFF ON TOP YOU WILL SEE THE DRIVESHAFT FROM ENGINE TO TRANS . YOUR SEAL IS LEAKING ON THE TRANS . SIDE. YOU WILL HAVE TO SPLIT TRACTOR AND REPLACE SEALS. dO YOU HAVE AN IPTO IF SO THERE IS A SEAL IN THAT SECTION ALSO.GET YOURSELF AN IT MANUAL AND IT WILL SHOW WHERE THESE PARTS ARE AND FOR WHICH TYPE PTO YOU HAVE.i HAVE A 300 UTILITY AND FROM YOUR PIC IT LOOKS ALMOST THE SAME.
hOPE THIS HELPS YOU SOME

JSA,
Thank you. Your post does help me figure that the trans seal is leaking. I was hoping that the hydraulic pump or filter might be leaking into that area as that probley would be an easier fix and it is in the area.
