E4A Magneto Question

In the E4A magneto, the ungrounded secondary winding connection is inserted into a hollow post in the collector ring. In my limited experience, I can't tell if there is any retention mechanism to hold the wire in place and/or maintain electrical contact, or if the stiffness of the wire and the depth of insertion into the post are relied upon for continued operation.
The IH Magneto Service Manual ( GSS-5035 ) and Neil Yerigan's How to Restore Tractor Magnetos didn't seem to address this matter, so I'm hoping you folks can shed some light.
Thanks in advance !
